Srinagar: Just two days before Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s visit to Srinagar to meet the top leaders in Jammu and Kashmir, militants carried out a massacre in Kulhan area of Doda district in Jammu on Sunday night killing 22 villagers.

PM was also scheduled to meet the leaders of Hurriyat Conference on May 3 in Srinagar as a warm-up to a bigger roundtable conference to be convened in Srinagar on May 25.

Hurriyat had found itself marginalised after the Centre started holding negotiations with other separatist groups, including Hurriyat rivals like Sajjad Lone's Peoples' Conference and Yaseen Malik's Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF).

The Hurriyat had stayed away from the first roundtable conference convened by the Prime Minister in the national capital on February 25.

During the proposed talks, the Prime Minister and Hurriyat and likely to draw a roadmap for an amicable solution to the Kashmir issue.
