KOCHI: The police team probing the Kothamangalam sex scam, in which a minor girl was sexually abused by several persons, will conduct a DNA test on the newborn delivered by the victim. The police have begun the procedures for the DNA test after the she gave birth to a girl child at Ernakulam General Hospital on Tuesday night. The police have already collected blood samples of all the 30 people who were arrested in connection with the case. Muvattupuzha DySP Tomy Sebastian, who is probing the case, said the DNA test is being conducted to ascertain the father of the child. “We will collect the blood sample of the newborn after consulting the doctors of the General Hospital. It will take almost a month to get the result of the test,” he said.According to the case, the girl, hailing from Kothamangalam, was sexually abused by several people. The case was registered after the girl’s father took her to a local government hospital for abortion. . The police have arrested 33 people, including the father of the victim. Three more persons are yet to be arrested.
