A camel at Angallu village of Kurabalakota mandal near Madanapalle town in Annamayya district, Andhra Pradesh, was declared missing. According to Local 18 Telugu, some friends from Angallu purchased the camel for Rs 1.25 lakh 13 days ago for the upcoming Bakrid celebrations. Bakri-Id is an annual festival celebrated by the Muslim community globally. These friends used to graze the camel in the surrounding areas and tie it at home during the night. One day, when these people woke up early in the morning, they couldn’t find the desert animal. In the first instance, they thought that the rope had broken and the camel went astray. They left no stone unturned to search for the animal but in vain. The attendants searched through the surrounding regions. These included the nearby rivulet beds and hilly regions, but the camel remained couldn’t be found.
As per the reports, some unidentified gang of animal-lifters might have stolen the animal. CCTV cameras in the surrounding areas have also been examined but there was no trace of the camel. The desert animal’s owner, Hussain, filed a police complaint with the Madanapalle Rural Circle police on June 10. The police have checked the footage from the CCTV cameras in and along the highways towards Bengaluru, Anantapur and Tirupati. They have failed to trace the culprit.
As per the reports, some traces and footprints of camel skin were discovered on the newly constructed bypass from Konasanivari Palli near Angallu to Madanapalle. The owner Hussain said that if someone helps him in tracing the camel’s whereabouts, they will give him a suitable reward. According to the camel owner, any information can be given to the mobile number 8978126623. According to The Hindu, it is suspected that the perpetrators may have used a vehicle to transport the camel further. A police officer said,” The theft of such a large animal like a camel or elephant is no small feat. We are investing the case from all angles.”
Till now, there have been no reports regarding the trace of the animal and the police have also not made any major leads in the case.
