Mumbai: The Mumbai Crime Branch has recovered one more mobile phone from Jigna Vora, one of the 11 accused in the murder of MiD DAY editor (Investigations) J Dey. This is the seventh cellphone that belonged to Vora. Further investigations also reveal that Vora used Joseph Paulson as a mediator to talk to notorious don Chhota Rajan.
"The phone was traced by its IMEI number and now we have recovered seven mobiles and sent all of them to the forensic laboratory to retrieve the deleted data," said an official from the Crime Branch.
Meanwhile, it has been learnt that Paulson acted as a mediator between Rajan and Vora. "Vora spoke to Rajan from Paulson's apartment in Vashi and used to pass on all the information through Paulson. We have both of them in police custody and further details will be revealed," added an officer.
Cops further added that Vora had sold her phones at different places making them almost untraceable. She sold one phone in Ahmedabad and also deleted data and call logs, but authorities are confident that they will be able to retrieve some information.
The police is also investigating as to why Vora was gifted a phone by a prominent businessman who is also the brother in-law of a famous actor. Officials from Crime Branch said that they would interrogate the actor's relative.
