BANGALORE: The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at T John Institute of Technology, organised a five-day VTU-VGST sponsored faculty development programme at the college campus recently. Faculty members of Engineering Colleges affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) were the key participants of the programme.This programme was organised as part of a joint initiative by VTU and VGST, the Karnataka Government’s Vision Group on science and technology to give teachers an opportunity to explore research avenues and improve their knowledge. The faculty development programme intended to discuss the research challenges in science and engineering from data mining perspective.  Academicians pioneering research in the field of data mining and data warehousing delivered lectures on the latest technologies. Demonstrations were also given by industry experts. The list of speakers included academicians like Dr Venugopal K R from UVCE, Bangalore University, Dr G Shobha from RVCE, Bangalore, Dr R Umarani from Sri Sarada College for Women, Salem and others.As a part of the programme, the participants were also taken on industrial visits to the corporate organisations Bangalore, where industry experts provided training on various data mining and data warehousing tools. The programme was coordinated by  T R Mahesh, Professor and head of department of Computer Science and Engineering, T John Institute of Technology.
