The Delhi High Court has issued notice to Ryan International School over the death of six-year-old Divyansh after he fell in the pit and drowned. The HC has also issued a notice to South Delhi Municipal Corporation and Delhi government in the case. The next hearing in the matter will be held on February 9.
HC has asked all agencies to take adequate safety measures.
The initial post-mortem report of Divyansh had revealed that he was drowned to death and died due to asphyxia. The report suggests that he had water in his lungs and could have struggled, but must have fell unconscious after falling in the pit and drowned.
The victim's father has accused the school and its principal of trying to hush up the matter. He said, "The principal didn't tell us anything, she just asked us to keep quite. The police told us that our son was found dead in a tank. How would a six-year-old boy lift a 20 kg lid?"
"If he was a special needs child, did the school ever inform us of that? Were they not supposed to tell us?" he added.
However, according to the principal, Sandhya Sabu, the child was special who had a tendency of running out from class. "This is a freak accident. Child is hyperactive."
