Delhi airport in thick fog again
Runway visibility reduced to 100 m after light showers in the Capital, flight from Pune turns back.

New Delhi: A dense fog hit the Capital late on Tuesday night affecting flights, trains and traffic.

Visibility at the runway at the Indira Gandhi International Airport was less than 100 m. and less than 50 m on many roads at 2300 hours IST.

Several late night flights, including eight of Jet Airways, were diverted fog and take-off of flights were hit.

A flight from Pune had to return because of the fog that engulfed the airport after light showers across Delhi decreased temperature.

Vehicles were seen moving slowly and found it difficult even with their fog lights on.

Evening temperatures dipped to 14 degrees C as the city received light rains throughout the afternoon. The weather office said the meteorological conditions were "very much favourable" for another spell of dense fog, said a PTI report.

Delhi received three mm rainfall due to western disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir and the cyclonic circulation developed over central Rajasthan.

The Capital had experienced a misty dawn and weather cleared up after sunrise and the minimum temperature was 7.4 degrees Celsius, a degree below normal.

Flights at the international airport were disrupted on Friday and Saturday because of fog.

The western disturbance and the subsequent cyclonic circulation brought clouds and rains over the Capital.

The mercury stood at 18.4 degrees C on 1330 hours IST when it began to rain and temperatures began a steady decline. The temperature was 14 degrees celsius at 1930 hours IST.
