HYDERABAD: In an attempt to woo the urban poor, the state government has extended the last date for submission of applications for the Layout Regularisation Scheme (LRS) from June 31 to December 31.The state cabinet, which met here on Thursday, took the decision enabling the urban poor who occupied government land ad-measuring less than 80 square yards to get their land regularised in all municipal towns and cities.The scheme has been extended several times earlier following requests from local people.It was also decided to develop the Hyderabad camp office of NTR Health University into a regional centre for the benefit of the people living in Hyderabad and its surrounding areas.The cabinet allocated about 86-acre land for a mega health park to come up at Murkhampattu in Chittoor district at the rate of Rs 3.5 lakh per acre.The Apollo hospitals group will take up the project in the land belonging to the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC).For the benefit of the landless poor, the government has decided to make amendments to the recommendations made by the Koneru Ranga Rao Committee to enable the government pay the cost required for land registration and other taxes with regards to land allocated to farm labourers and craftsmen.The cabinet has decided to notify the Aadhaar number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) as a proof of identity and address for accessing services offered by the state government.In the context of the ongoing Education Fortnight celebrations, chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy asked his cabinet colleagues to participate in the inauguration of 1,000 school buildings across the state on a single day on June 21.Apart from laying the foundation stones for the construction of 500 high school complexes and 355 model school buildings, people’s representatives will inaugurate 75 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBV), 3,569 additional classrooms in 3,273 schools and other amenities in schools during the week.The government will take up these works with an estimated investment of Rs 2,000 crore.The chief minister also wanted the ministers to build confidence among farmers on distribution of 17 types of seeds for crops including paddy and Bt cotton. As against 16 lakh quintals of seeds required, the government has supplied 10 lakh quintals, of which five lakh quintals have been purchased by farmers. Officials were asked to supply the remaining six lakh quintals to districts within the next 15 days.Further, the cabinet cleared the proposal for increasing the input subsidy from Rs 3,750 to Rs 5,000 per hectare for maize and from Rs 4,500 to Rs 6,000 for other crops like paddy, sugarcane, chilli and cotton.
