DDC: Remove All Metro-related hurdles

KOCHI: All worries related to the Metro rail project should be removed at the earliest, demanded the District Development Council (DDC). It also sought to ensure the participation of E Sreedharan as the head of Metro rail project.Jose Thettayil MLA passed a resolution in this regard and Tomy K Jose, representing Jose K Mani MP, supported the resolution.Saju Paul MLA said that a district-level meeting should be convened at the earliest to take necessary precautionary measures on the Mullaperiyar issue.Jose Thettayil pointed out that people are having  a tough time owing to the heavy traffic congestion experienced in the Angamali - Kaladi- Perumbavoor route on the MC Road. He said the only alternative to resolve this issue is to build a bridge parallel to this route.Saju Paul and Jose Thettayil sought measures to prevent the passage of heavy vehicles via this route.District Collector P I Sheik Pareeth, who presided over the council, said that steps will be taken at the earliest to remove illegal hoardings and flex boards on the PWD roads and electric posts. District Planning Officer R Girija was also present.
