The 20th edition of the Games to be hosted by Glasgow will see athletes competing in 17 sports disciplines over 11 days from July 23 to August 3.

The 20th edition of the Commonwealth Games begin on Wednesday in Glasgow, where Queen Elizabeth II will open the 11-day sporting extravaganza at a glittering ceremony beginning 0030 IST.

Around 4500 athletes from 71 countries have descended in Glasgow to be part of the biggest sporting event after the Olympics and Asian Games.

Schedule: July 23 to August 3

Opening Ceremony: July 23 (0030 IST, July 24)

Closing Ceremony: August 3
