COIMBATORE: Contractor Ravikumar alleged that Sasikala Natarajan’s relative Ravanan had summoned him to his office on Tiruchy Road situated at the godown of Raga Oil Mill and demanded `10 lakh in May 2011 “if he wanted to continue his contract business with the panchayat.”When Ravikumar refused to yield, the accused threatened him on several occasions over phone, he said. “On October 9, 2011, Mohan along with a few other men entered his (Ravikumar’s) house and asked him to leave to meet Ravanan at his office. When the complainant resisted he was threatened at knife point, forcefully abducted in a car and taken to Raga Oil Mill godown where he was beaten by Ravanan and threatened with weapons and confined,” a police release said. The contractor was set free in the evening only after his friend Paramesh Kumar delivered `10 lakh to Ravanan.It is learnt that Ravanan could be booked in three more criminal cases soon. Earlier this week, the local BJP unit had submitted a petition to the Coimbatore Collector accusing Ravanan of land grabbing in Vadavalli. Besides, relatives of an AIADMK functionary, who died in a recent accident in Karumathampatty, have submitted a petition raising suspicion over Ravanan’s role in it.
