Corporation meets bidders over NMF successor

CHENNAI: With private conservancy operator Neel Metal Fanalca (NMF) set to wind up its operations in another four months, officials of the Chennai Corporation on Friday met potential conservancy bidders at Ripon Building.According to Corporation sources, senior officials, including corporation Commissioner D Karthikeyan, interacted with representatives from different agencies who may bid for the work after getting their views on the proposed tender documents on bettering the conditions of operations. Following the Madras High Court direction, the NMF will end all operations in its four zones by December 31 and the civic body, with Friday’s meeting, has initiated a lengthy process to identify its successor and ensure a smooth transition.
