Senior Congress MLA Rajendra Kumar Singh was unanimously elected Deputy Speaker of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly here on Friday.
The proposal to elect Singh as Deputy Speaker was moved by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and seconded by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Narottam Mishra.
Leader of Opposition Satyadev Katare, Mukesh Nayak, Balbir Singh Dandotia and K P Singh supported the proposal after which Speaker Sitasharan Sharma announced Singh's unanimous election to the post.
Later the Speaker, Chief Minister and other members of the house congratulated Singh on getting elected as Deputy Speaker.
Singh was elected from the Amarpatan seat in Satna district of the state.
