KOCHI: Accompanied by KSEB, KWA and PWD officials, District Collector P I Sheik Pareeth visited the Moolampilly rehabilitation sites on Wednesday to evaluate the basic facilities made available to the evictees of the Vallarpadam International Container Transshipment Terminal project. He started off with Mulavukad village, where 14 families were given plots.The Collector also visited 14 plots at Cheranelloor and Kothad.During the inspection, the evictees complained of lack of electricity and water supply and good roads at Mulavukadu. In Moolampilly and Kothad, the officials saw that the land was unfit for construction and lacked proper drainage system despite having threephase electric connection and water supply.Thaikkavu in Cheranelloor village, where six families were rehabilitated, lacks basic amenities."Though there are many basic needs to be addressed, we are quite happy with the way the works are progressing at the sites. We will also remain vigilant," the representatives of the coordination committee said. "We will implement all the prerequisites in a timebound manner," the Collector said, after the evaluation process.The authorities concerned said that steps had been taken to provide electricity and water to the plots. Electricity had been provided at Moolampilly, and landowners had taken permits to build houses.
