CMs medal for 9 police officials

CHENNAI: Nine police officers have been awarded the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Medal for excellence in investigation and public service on the Independence Day eve. While seven have been awarded for excellence in investigation, two others are awarded for outstanding public service.Principal Secretary Rameshram Mishra said the medals were in recognition of the “investigating ability, keenness, capacity for hard work of high calibre and a zeal for selfless public service”.The medal for excellence in investigation has been awarded to inspectors of police, G Augustine Paul Sudhakar (Korattur police station), S Ravichandran (Crime Branch CID, Chennai), G Velmurugan (Cyber Crime Cell, CB CID, Chennai), V Chandrasekaran (Crime Branch CID, Ramnad), G Saravanan (Crime Branch CID, Madurai), C Chandrasekar (City Crime, Coimbatore) and G Soundararajan (Prohibition Enforcement Wing, Chengalpattu).The police medal for excellence in public service has been awarded to DCP Hema Karunagaran (Coimbatore) and Inspector A Thilagavathi (Police Telecommunication Branch, Coimbatore). The gold medal and cash award of `5,000 each will be presented by the CM later.
