Inaugurating the Neurocentre Cochin, a comprehensive clinical service in neurosciences, the CM pointed out that the approach to the disability should be modified. “We need a different approach while dealing with the learning disabilities in children. Training should be given to teachers and parents on how to deal with the children,” the Chief Minister said. Justice V R Krishna Iyer was the chief guest. Dr Philip John, Dr Sujith Vasudevan, Dr Reji Paul, Dr Varghese Cheriyan, K Radhakrishnan, Dr M S Jinan, Dr K J S Rajeev and Dr Mathew Abraham spoke.
The centre is a new initiative for the treatment of neurological and psychiatric problems. The psychiatry wing will have facilities for detection and treatment of learning disabilities, autism and language-related issues in children.
