The British Council and the Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) have invited applications to apply for the ‘International Climate Champions 2011'. Twenty-five champions from across India will be selected this year.The programme is aimed at young people aged between 18 and 21 years with an active interest in the environment and are committed to the cause of tackling climate change by taking positive action to make a difference through programmes at community and peer group levels.The selected British Council International Climate Champions will receive training, mentoring and guidance from experts in India and the UK to hone their skills and mould them into effective communicators, influencers and leaders. The champions will also gain opportunities to meet and network with peers and decision makers at local, national and international levels. International Climate Champions is one of British Council’s youth-oriented initiatives organised in partnership with TERI, India. Part of British Council’s global project ‘Climate Generation,’ the initiative is delivered through a network of Climate Champions across 60 countries. Last date of submitting the application is June 26. Applications can be submitted online at www.britishcouncil.org.in/surveys/ccindia.
