TIRUCHY: A cleaner of sand lorry was killed as the workers filled sand without knowing that he was sleeping in the lorry, here on Sunday.B Kamaraj (30) of Athur in Salem, was a lorry cleaner working with driver S Murugan (27) of Kollagowndanur in Salem. Sources said, they were in Tiruchy for loading sand. Early morning, on Sunday, they went to load sand at a quarry in Kottur in Vaithalai. After reaching the spot, Kamaraj who was sleepy asked the driver to station the lorry near the quarry and told him that he would wait for the turn but went to sleep in the lorry.However, while Kamaraj was fast asleep, the quarry pocklain driver K Karthick (20) of Mannachanallur filled sand in the lorry in which Kamaraj was sleeping. Kamaraj got suffocated while workers in the sand quarry continued filling sand in the lorry.After a while, when the driver Murugan came to move the lorry, Kamaraj was found missing. Then he started searching for Kamaraj every where. Suddenly, he recalled that Kamaraj went back to the lorry to sleep.Murugan and Karthick removed the sand from lorry only to find Kamaraj dead under the heap of sand.On receipt of information, Jeeyapuram police rushed to the spot and retrieved the body. They also arrested Murugan and Karthick. A case has been registered and further investigation is on.
