Class XII girl, allegedly depressed over studies commits suicide

Apparently depressed over her studies, a class XII girl student allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself, police said on Saturday.

16-year-old Akanksha Srivastav, a resident of Lajpat nagar area here hanged herself from a ceiling fan in her room when her brother was asleep at home and her parents were away, they said.

Her brother Krishna informed the neighbours and police when he woke up and saw her hanging. Police took the minor to a hospital where she was declared dead.

According to the police, Akanksha's mother informed them that her daughter was apparently depressed over studies from the past few days.

The victim's body has been sent for post mortem and investigation is on into the incident, they said.
