ALAPPUZHA: Tension prevailed at the Alappuzha District Medical Office following clashes between NGO Association and NGO Union members on Tuesday.
Five persons were injured in the melee. They were admitted to the Alappuzha Medical College Hospital. Furniture and windows of the district medical office were damaged. The Alappuzha South police have registered a case in this connection. District Medical Officer K M Sirabuddin told Express that the NGO Association members had demanded him to deploy its members in the establishment wing of the DMO office.

The association members gheraoed the DMO's administrative assistant Suresh Kumar on Tuesday alleging that he was preventing the deployment of the association members in the establishment wing.
