Chhota Rajan was detained almost 15 days back, agencies convinced him to surrender in lieu of security: Sources
Rajan was arrested in Bali by Indonesian police which acted on a Red Corner Notice issued by Interpol.

In a new twist in the arrest of underworld don Chhota Rajan, sources on Tuesday revealed that Rajan was detained 15 days back. The sources said intelligence agencies convinced him to surrender to avoid any possible attack on him.

According to the sources, gangster Chhota Shakeel wanted to kill him in Sydney.

After this, Australia wanted action against Rajan to avoid any unrest and tension. Through their diplomatic channels, Australia contacted India for coordination to track Rajan. Bali was chosen carefully to avoid tension.

The sources added that Rajan's arrest will not bring out information on Dawood Ibrahim.

In 2000, Dawood's henchmen carried out an attack on Rajan which he survived but his health began to deteriorate. He has been undergoing dialysis since 2010. Dawood's men reportedly made another attempt on Rajan's life earlier in 2015 in New south wales.

Rajan was arrested in Bali by Indonesian police which acted on a Red Corner Notice issued by Interpol.

The arrest was made on a tip off from Australian police that 55-year-old Rajendra Sadashiv Nikalje alias Mohan Kumar alias Chhota Rajan has flown from Sydney to Indonesia's popular tourist destination Bali, where he was arrested on Sunday.
