With the panic among people from northeast subsiding in the city, the Cyberabad police and other agencies have come forward to put in place confidence building measures to ensure that those who went back home in fear return and resume their duties.
After discussing the issue threadbare at a meeting here on Tuesday, it was decided to form Confidence Building Committees (CBCs) in various sectors including IT, security agencies, education, hospitality, real estate, health and banks.
“The committees will consist of local persons, local public representatives and prominent leaders from Hindu and Muslim communities along with members of the Assam Association,’’ Cyberabad Police Commissioner Ch Dwaraka Tirumala Rao said.
The committees will be in touch with railway authorities as well.
The police appealed to those who left for Assam to come back and take up their jobs and studies without any fear.

The police also decided to continue pickets and patrolling in areas where northeast people live in good numbers.
Apart from Tirumala Rao and Madhapur DCP T Yoganand, the meeting was attended by IAS officer Bhasker, who is Principal Secretary in Assam, DIG rank officer of Assam Vijay Kumar Ramisetty, North East Forum Secretary Rev Paothang Haokip, Assam Association President S K Modi, KIMS Vice-Chairman, Dr S Sahariah and others.
