THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A call centre facility and token display system at the enquiry section were opened at the Public Service Commission (PSC)headquarters here on Monday. PSC chairman K V Salahudeen inaugurated the call centre and token display system. The call centre will function from 8 am to 8 pm. All  information regarding PSC exams would be made available through the call centre. The enquiry office will cater only to those who come directly to the office.  The call centre no is 0471-2554000. Currently there are six lines available at the call centre. The number of lines at the call centre would be increased to 30 soon.  Later, speaking to ‘Express’,  Salahudeen said the PSC was facing severe shortage of manpower. Despite having made repeated requests to the government to increase the manpower, these had gone unheeded. He said that he hoped that the new government will accept the request. Final exam for sub-inspector postOn whether the PSC had plans to cancel the preliminary examination held for the post of sub-inspectors following the mobile phone copying controversy, Salahudeen said copying was not a new thing. “If someone had been found copying in an exam, action would be taken against the guilty. The demand for cancelling an examination in the name of a few candidates committing fraud cannot be accepted,” he said. He said that the PSC had already made it clear that as in the past preliminary and final examination would be conducted for selection to the post of sub-inspectors.
