BHUBANESWAR: The State Government has decided to develop the Buddhist circuit in Jajpur district to attract more tourists.Official sources said Rs 398.66 lakh was sanctioned in 2009-10 under the Destination Development Scheme for five tourist places in the district. An amount of Rs 9.51 lakh has already been spent for construction of a public convenience centre at Mahabinayak. Besides, Rs 110.22 lakh has been sanctioned by the Rural Development Department for upgrading the road from NH-5A to Olasuni. It has been decided that infrastructure, developed at Buddhist heritage sites in the district, will be maintained by organisations on a PPP mode. Bids have been received for this. This will be placed before the Empowered Committee on Infrastructure. An amount of Rs 922 lakh has been spent on the Buddhist circuit in the district during the last five years for development of infrastructure.The State Government has sanctioned Rs 63.9 lakh for development of Olasuni.
