BANGALORE: Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has again resorted to his time-tested tactics of using his “popular support” to bail himself out of the present crisis.Sensing that the high command might take an unfavourable decision after his alleged indictment in the illegal mining report and phone-tapping charges by Lokayukta Justice N Santosh Hegde, the CM rolled out his month-long plan to show his strength to party higher ups and to gain public sympathy, particularly from the politically significant Lingayats.Soon after his arrival from Mauritius, Yeddyurappa held closed-door meetings with his supporters in the party and in the government after which he announced a plan to tour the state from the first week of August.According to the schedule, he plans to cover 10 districts in the first phase by holding rallies to convey the “Opposition’s efforts to dislodge him from power”.“I place this conspiracy to oust me from power before the people. People are the ones who script our destiny, let them decide,” he said, in an apparent move to take his rivals head on.He also convened a meeting of BJP MPs from the state on July 31 to evolve a strategy to counter Congress’ plan to raise charges against him in Parliament session beginning August 1.He has convened a BJP legislature party meeting on August 5 to gain support.
