Former chief ministerK S Eshwarappa said on Wednesday that Tamil Nadu should not pressure Karnataka government in view of the severe drought in the state.
He told reporters in Gandasi of Arsikere taluk after visiting the goshala set up by the district authority, that the state had released enough water to TN on earlier occasions.
“The state has never violated the Supreme Court order and Tamil Nadu should wait till the reservoirs become full,” he said.
According to Yeddyurapa, the state government has released `3,500 crore to waive loans of 17 lakh farmers.
He said that the Centre should waive loans of over `19,000 crore taken from nationalised banks.
He urged the Opposition leaders and Union ministers representing the state to join a delegation led by the CM to put pressure on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for funds.
“Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah is free to visit the drought-hit areas,” he said.
On the delay in the appointment of the state BJP president, he said the high command will take a decision at an appropriate time.
