BANGALORE: Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa has urged Home Minister R Ashok to order a high-level inquiry into the murder of KAS officer Mahantesh. After battling for life for about five days, Deputy Director of the Directorate of Co-operative Audit S P Mahantesh, 48, a KAS officer, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday morning. He was attacked by unidentified assailants near Atria Hotel on Palace Road on May 15. In a letter to Ashok on Monday, Yeddyurappa while referring to the media reports that suspected the role of housing societies in the murder of Mahantesh, has sought a probe. The former chief minister demanded an inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the formation of illegal layouts by housing societies in and around Bangalore. He also urged the government to announce compensation for Mahantesh’s family.
