New Delhi: Wednesday saw another twist in the life of two-month-old Goltu, the baby who was orphaned after his father was crushed under a Blueline and when his mother committed suicide soon after.
The Blueline driver who was responsible for the death of Goltu's father on Wednesday came forward and said that he would like to adopt the baby.
"I am really sorry for what has happened. I will support the child in any way. I will even adopt the child as I do not have any children," the driver of the bus, Ramesh Chander, was quoted by news agency PTI as saying.
On Sunday, the baby's father, 30-year-old Aqeeb, became the 121st victim of the killer buses in the last one year, hours after he stepped out of the New Delhi Railway station.
The couple, with their baby, had come to Delhi from Jalpaiguri in West Bengal in search of work.
Aqeeb was mowed down by the bus while crossing the road near Nizamuddin. He was rushed to AIIMS but was declared brought dead. Devastated, his wife, Daalia, hung herself in the toilet of the AIIMS Trauma Centre on Monday evening.
It was all over by the time Aqeeb's younger brother, a daily wage labourer who works near Gurgaon, reached the hospital.
