BJP wins Bihar, Marandi gets Jharkhand
Former Jharkhand CM Babu Lal Marandi has won the Koderma Lok Sabha seat and BJP has won in Bhagalpur and Nalanda.

Giridih (Jharkhand): Counting of votes for the by-elections to three Lok Sabha seats from Bihar and Jharkhand has finished.

At the end of the eighth round of counting, former Jharkhand chief minister Babu Lal Marandi has been declared the winner.

Marandi was contesting to retain the Koderma Lok Sabha seat in Jharkhand as an Independent candidate against Congress' Manoj Yadav.

The bypoll for the Koderma seat was held on November 6 and was necessitated following Marandi's resignation from the Lok Sabha after his exit from the BJP.

Meanwhile in Bihar, BJP has won the Baghalpur bypolls. Former union minister Shahnawaz Hussain was contesting for BJP from Bhagalpur.

The NDA candidate - JD(U) leader Ram Swarup Prasad - has won the Nalanda seat by 1,17,000 Votes.

The Bhagalpur and Nalanda seats had been vacated by Nitish Kumar and Sushil Kumar Modi when they took over as the state's Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister.

Polling for the by-elections was held on November 6.
