Mumbai: BJP General Secretary Pramod Mahajan was shot at in the Worli area of Mumbai on Saturday morning.
He was rushed to Hinduja Hospital and is being operated upon. The hospital authorities are tightlipped about his condition.
Mahajan's family members say it was Pravin Mahajan - Pramod's younger brother - who fired at least seven bullets at him, and fear a property dispute could be the reason behind the attack.
Pravin, who had come to meet the leader at his residence on Saturday morning, has surrendered.
He has been booked under Section 307 for attempt to murder.
Pramod Mahajan's injuries were reported to be grievous. Out of the three bullets, one hit him in the chest, the other brushed past his neck and the third one hit his hand.
It was Mahajan's brother-in-law Gopinath Munde got him admitted to the hospital.
