KOCHI: The Kerala Catholic Bishops’ Council has exhorted the faithful to adopt the policy of ‘recycle, reuse, reduce’ without affecting natural resources to manage waste. It is also stated in the policy paper that people should cooperate with projects proposed by the governments and other organisations for environment protection. However, it hastens to add that the Catholic Church does not recognise the extremist policy of certain environment organisations. “I am doubtful how many persons will follow the suggestion,’’ said Mathew Jacob, a Catholic church-goer based in Kannur. The policy also suggests that Church organisations should earmark funds for environment protection in their annual budgets and join hands with non-Catholic organisations in issues related to environment protection.
