A time when really anything seems possible...not for long though, ha! The crime and madness of the world doesn't stop for a day, now does it?
I was just watching a very young Leo diCaprio and Meryl Streep in Marvin's Room (nice, intense drama with a feel-good ending) and I don't know if it's just an overdose of cinema or the fact that I could've been watching a manic Jack Black in School of Rock, but it felt a bit flat. And I'm pretty sure it's a good movie...
So I'm beginning to wonder how cynical the average movie-goer has gotten? (Obviously tooooo much time on my hands! Actually not, but more like your experiences and random thoughts, even, get that much more intense when they're packed into a crazy, hectic day...)
Do you find that you're getting more and more demanding? I mean as far as the cinematic experience is concerned, I think our standards might just have flipped out the top of the ceiling by now! I saw King Kong the other day too and thought it was mind-blowing, for the most part. Really fun, not a mind trip, just good old-fashioned and some really slick scenes...But there were bits when I was like, too long! too slow! Speed it up!
Am I going nuts?!!?! The one thing people have not complained about in that movie (though according to some of the nearest and dearest it's a load of crap!) is the action.
