Chennai: It was a moment of joy for salesman turned professor Rakesh Godhwani as he was recently felicitated with the Dronacharya Award by the Rotary Club of Madras East.
“I am honoured to receive the award and it will motivate me,” said the Indian Institute of Management professor after receiving the award from the US Consulate Public Affairs Officer, David J Gainer.
The award is one of five major awards that the Rotary Club of Madras East gives out every year to people who have made a difference to the lives of others.
Rakesh said that corporate jobs with big pay cheques and perks did not satisfy him and that’s the reason he took up the profession of teaching.
Speaking on the occasion, Gainer hailed Godhwani for having the courage to give up a lucrative career and follow his passion for teaching.
