New Delhi: Teen pop sensation Justin Bieber became the first Instagram user to get 1 million Likes on a video post. Justin Bieber uploaded the video to Instagram on June 20 when Facebook rolled out the video feature for Instagram.
The video posted by 'Boyfriend' singer features a shirtless Bieber informing his fans about Instagram's newly introduced features.
Reportedly, Justin Bieber became the first Instagram user to get 1 million followers in March last year. He has now over 9 million Instagram followers.
Justin Bieber also became the first person to hit 40 million Twitter followers early June this year.
Facebook, on Thursday, introduced video for its popular photo sharing application Instagram, following in the heels of Twitter's growing video-sharing app, Vine. If users like it, Facebook's move could propel mobile video sharing into the mainstream.
Instagram users can record 15-second clips by tapping a video icon on the app. They can also apply filters to the videos to add contrast, make them black and white or different hues. There are at present 13 filers in all.
Vine, which launched in January, has 13 million users. Instagram has 130 million users, up from 20 million when Facebook bought the company more than a year ago. Systrom said that 16 billion photographs have been shared on Instagram and the service attracts 1 billion likes everyday.
The new video feature on Instagram is available to Android users on versions 4.1 or later and for iPhone 3GS device or newer running iOS 5.0 or later. Other devices may not be able to upload videos but they can view videos posted by others.
Among the features of Instagram video, which works with Apple's iOS and Google Android operating system, are a video stabilisation technology and spate of custom design filters.
Facebook bought Instagram for $1 billion in April 2012 as a way to keep its users hooked on new features weeks before the social media network became a publicly traded company.
