MADURAI: A 23-year-old man landed in jail here when he attempted to rob valuables from a famous jewellery shop here on Saturday night. Animesh Guha tried to rob valuables from a jewellery shop at Keela Veli Street using a toy gun. He took a two-wheeler for test ride from a two-wheeler showroom on Saturday evening, but didn’t return the vehicle. Instead, he went to his house in K K Nagar and changed the number plate of the vehicle. Then he purchased a toy gun and moved to Keela Veli Street and entered the jewellery shop around 9 pm.He asked the shop employees to show a few jewellery items. When they displayed costly jewellery, he suddenly took the toy gun and threatened them and attempted to take the jewels.He kept the toy gun on the table and picked all jewelleries. When the employees sensed that the gun he was holding was a fake one, the security immediately downed the shutters and caught him. He was remanded him to judicial custody.
