Bharat bandh: UP govt orders inquiry into Noida violence
Over 25 vehicles were set ablaze and several industrial units damaged as the nationwide strike by trade unions turned violent.

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday set up a two-member inquiry committee to probe the Noida violence, which broke out during the nationwide strike by trade unions, and submit its report in three days time.

Principal Secretry (Home) RM Srivastava said that Home Secretary Rakesh and ADG Law and Order Arun Kumar will probe the violence. The team would go into the arrangement made to maintain law and order during the bandh, the role of police at the time of incidents, identify the lax officials and employees who failed to control the situation, Srivastava said.

Instructions have been issued to take strict action against those responsible for violent in Noida, Srivastava said adding, the help of CCTV footage will be taken to identify the culprit.

Over 25 vehicles were set ablaze and several industrial units damaged as the nationwide strike by trade unions turned violent, prompting police to arrest 50 persons.

Central trade unions have called a two-day nationwide strike in support of their various demands including urgent steps to control price rise, strict enforcement of labour laws in all places of work, social security net for workers in the unorganised sector, end to disinvestment in PSUs.
