Beckham’s lone goal against Ecuador on Sunday would be used in a campaign to make math more interesting.
London: English soccer captain David Beckham’s lone goal against Ecuador on Sunday would be used in a four-million-pound campaign to make mathematics more interesting at school for 11 to 13-year-olds.
The goal ensured England a quarter-final berth in the ongoing Soccer World Cup in Germany.
In the new math lessons, kids will be asked to work out the speed and distance of the ball, reported The Sun.
Teachers will be told to harness World Cup fever to help pupils knuckle down. They will use pitch sizes and stadium plans to practice calculations, the report added.
According to British education secretary Alan Johnson, the move is being contemplated to make math more interesting as kids lose interest once they start secondary school.
