BANGALORE: In a mix up of sorts, the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Engineer in Chief, B T Ramesh, issued a circular ordering the on going works of the Optic Fiber Cable (OFC) to be stopped. However, soon after, he was forced to send out another order cancelling the earlier order.Error at workThe reason for the second order, to cancel the earlier order came after cable TV operators protested that their cables were being removed along with that of Telecom service providers. The workers who were engrossed at sincerely removing the fiber cables did not realise they were removing the cable wires too.Only when the operators protested against BBMP's actions, the order was cancelled. Also, a dharna took place when one of the operators was allegedly 'foulmouthed.'The issue was resolved when they were assured that their cables were not the target of the BBMP. It was also decided that cable operators would assist the Assistant Executive Engineers to identify TV cables and remove the rest.Soon after, Ramesh shot out a circular directing officials to stop the OFC removal drive, which was not communicated with the commissioner. Siddiah summoned Ramesh and was asked to send out another intra office circular, informing to continue the drive.
