BBMP members pitch in for kannada cause

BANGALORE: Keeping the promise made to the Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Councillors of BBMP donated their monthly salaries towards Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelan.While the BBMP employees donated a day’s salary during the Sammelan in February, the Councillors promised to contribute a month’s salary for the promotion of Kannada culture.Mayor Sharadamma donated a cheque of `14 lakh to Nallur Prasad, President, Kannada Sahitya Parishat, on Thursday. The cheque was the collective contribution of 197 BBMP members.Also present at the event were S Harish, Deputy Mayor and M Udayashankar, Opposition Leader, BBMP.
