Islamabad: Dilawar Khan Wazir, a journalist working for BBC's Urdu service who was reported missing in Pakistan's troubled tribal area, has been freed by his kidnappers.
Wazir, who disappeared Monday after leaving for home in Dera Ismail Khan, told the Daily Times that unidentified men had seized him. He was set free on Tuesday.
"I was waiting for a cab when a car stopped near me. Some men got out and shoved me into the car after blindfolding and beating me," he said
He said he was taken to an unidentified location and asked questions about his profession. Wazir said the kidnappers released him after warning him not to tell anybody about the incident.
According to media reports, Wazir's family in Dera Ismail Khan has been frequently targeted. Investigations into the killing of his 15-year-old brother Taimur Khan, who was shot in August, are still underway.
Wazir had to leave the area after his house and a school his family runs were burnt down.
