HYDERABAD: A burglar robbed more than Rs. 2 lakh in cash from a bar and restaurant at Ramanthapur after critically injuring the security guard in the early hours of Thursday.The incident took place at Madhura Bar and Restaurant on the Ramanthapur main road.Police officials, who went through the CCTV recordings, said that one person had entered the compound from the rear side around 4 am. He hit the security guard, 35-year Pankaj Yadav, on the head with a blunt object from behind.As the guard collapsed, the burglar slit his throat with a sharp-edged weapon.Thinking that the guard was dead, he broke the lock of the the main door and entered the premises. He forced open the almirah and stole more than Rs 2 lakh in cash and made good his escape, Uppal police inspector R Satyanarayana Raju said.Locals found Pankaj Yadav in a pool of blood in the morning and informed the police who shifted him to the Gandhi Hospital for treatment.Uppal police and sleuths of the Special Operation Team (SOT) and Central Crime Station of Cyberabad police visited the scene and collected evidences.Special teams have been formed to nab the accused.Police suspect the role of an insider, someone who had worked in the past or is working now, in the robbery.According to the police, the management did not take out the huge money as the bar was closed for a day due to bandh.
