BANGALORE: Despite the government’s guidelines most public buildings in the city lack basic disabled-friendly facilities and do not comply with these guidelines, denying access to the disabled people in city. The ‘Access Audit’ conducted by the team members of the Department of Welfare of Disabled and Senior Citizens here on Thursday revealed non-compliance with government guidelines and discrimination against the physically disabled.Most public buildings did not have basic facilities like ramps, adaptation of toilets for wheelchair users, braille symbols and auditory signals in elevators.The building of the Commissioner for Public Instruction lacks lift facility. The toilets, lack specially designed toilets for the disabled. Even the height of the ramp are built too high.
