Bangalore: lovelorn man sets himself ablaze in car
The 28-year-old married man set himself ablaze after the parents of his girlfriend warned him to stay away from her.

BANGALORE: A 28-year-old married man committed suicide by setting himself ablaze inside a four-wheeler after the parents of his girlfriend warned him to stay away from her. The incident took place at Sir M Vishveswaraiah BDA Layout on Chikkanahalli Road in Bidadi police station limits in the outskirts of the city on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Dayananda (28), a resident of Mallathalli. He was working as a cab driver for a city-based call centre. A native of Huliyurudurga near Kunigal in Tumkur, he was married to Jayalakshmi a few years back and the couple had one child.

According to the police, though he was married, he was in love with a girl, identified as Sangeeta. Her parents learnt of this and allegedly warned him to stay away from her. He was depressed after that and had also informed his friends about the incident.

On Tuesday at around 11.30 am, he went near the BDA Layout in his Tata Sumo. He sat on the driver’s seat and fastened the seat belt and reportedly set himself on fire. Before the public could rescue him, he was burnt alive and even the vehicle was charred in  the incident.

The body was shifted to Rajarajeshwari Medical College and Hospital mortuary near Kengeri on Mysore Road. A postmortem would be conducted on Wednesday. Bidadi police have registered a case of unnatural death.
