KOCHI: ASICON 2011, the 71st annual conference of the Association of Surgeons of India, will be held in Kochi from December 25 to 30. The conference is jointly organised by the Kerala chapter of the Association of Surgeons of India and the Cochin Surgical Society.Apart from over 5000 surgeons from various parts of India, a number top rated researchers, teachers and experts in various techniques across the world, are expected to take part in the conference which will highlight the theme, ‘Surgery Sans Frontiers’.“A number of delegates from the UK, US, countries of Europe, Australia, Southeast Asia and South Africa are expected to participate in this academic fest,” said Dr Santhosh John Abraham, secretary of the organising committee.“The conference will begin with a pre-conference workshop which will cover most of the basic and advanced surgical procedures performed by experts in their respective fields, on December 25. The workshop will be followed by a series of medical education lectures on the December 26. The next three days will have concurrent academic and scientific sessions, based on different organ system related diseases. The conference will close in the late afternoon on December 30,” Dr Abraham said.“An exhibition of advanced diagnostic equipment and innovations in the field of surgical procedures will also be there. Young achievers in the field of surgery will be presented with awards during the conference,” he said.
