SALEM: After three-day custodial interrogation, K Suresh Kumar, the nephew of Veerpandi S Arumugam and Vice Chairman of the Salem District Panchayat, was arrested on Saturday evening.The arrest was made immediately after he fulfilled bail formalities in the court. Suresh Kumar and Koushika Boopathy (Veerpandi Arumugam’s political PA) sought bail at the Madras High Court in the Angammal Colony and the Premier Mills land grab cases.  The HC granted conditional bail ordering Suresh and Boopathy to surrender before the City Crime Branch and depose for an interrogation in custody for three days. He was also asked to produce sureties after the three days of interrogation.Suresh and Boopathy are named co-accused with Veerpandi Arumugam in the Dasanaikepatti land grab complaint lodged by VHP’s district president Bala Mohanraj. While Suresh Kumar surrendered as per the HC orders on August 18, Boopathy went at large. After three days of interrogation Suresh Kumar was produced before the Fourth Judicial Magistrate Sri Vidya. When Suresh Kumar came out of the court after completing the formalities he was arrested in the Dasanaikenpatti land grab case.The police took him to Velore Central Prison as per the court orders. It is to be noted that Veerpandi Arumugam was also arrested in the same fashion after he completed his three-day custodial interrogation in the Angammal Colony and Premier Mills case.
