PATHANAMTHITTA: Aravana prasadam production at Sabarimala Lord Ayyappa temple for the forthcoming Mandalam-Makaravilaku season will begin on October 27. Talking to ‘Express’, Sabarimala executive officer M Satheesh Kumar said that the average daily production of aravana prasadam would be in the range of one lakh to 1.25 lakh containers, with a target of having an opening stock of 20 lakh containers when the hill shrine opens for the annual pilgrimage season on November 16. The maintenance work of the aravana plant had already been completed and the plant could be able to produce a maximum of 1.50 lakh containers a day, he said.Transportation of Raw MaterialsSatheesh Kumar said that transportation of raw materials, including jaggery, rice and cardamom, through tractors from Pampa Devaswom godown to Sannidhanam had already started. He said that measures had been taken to transport 1 lakh kg of rice and 5.20 lakh kg of jaggery before October 27. In addition, 50 lakh empty containers and slip-lids had also reached Sannidhanam, he said.9 Prasadam Counters at MalikappuramSatheesh Kumar said that for the convenience of pilgrims, the Devaswom authorities would set up nine prasadam counters near Malikappuram Devi temple on November 16. The opening of new prasadam counters is with the objective of achieving the full benefits of the new one-way exit system for the pilgrims from Malikappuram to Chandranandan road after darsan of Lord Ayyappa, he said. The new prasadam distribution facility at Malikappuram would have a capacity to stock three lakh to five lakh containers, he said. The present prasadam counters at Lower Thirumuttam would function normally during the pilgrimage season, Sabarimala executive officer said.
