BANGALORE: JD(S) General Secretary Y S V Datta has filed a petition in the Special Lokayukta Court seeking prosecution of Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa for alleged criminal misconduct unduly favouring a company for executing package II of the Upper Bhadra Project.Disclosing the contents of the petition to The New Indian Express, Datta said two companies - RNS Jyothi joint venture company and Kirloskar Shankar joint venture company - had participated in the tender for executing package II of the Upper Bhadra project. While the former had quoted Rs 1,033 crores to execute the project, the latter had quoted Rs 1,025 crore and had also assured of completing the work within Rs 1,006 crore.“However, Yeddyurappa, in his capacity as the chairman of Neeravari Nigam, favoured RNS company which had quoted the higher rate and also released Rs 103 crore in advance to initiate the work. In return for this favour, the RNS company has deposited Rs 13 crore - Rs 11 crore in Davalagiri properties and Rs 2 crore in Sahyadri Health Care systems - the two companies owned by Yeddyurappa’s kin. By doing this, Yeddyurappa has committed of criminal misconduct,” Datta complained. He said he pleaded before the Lokayukta Special Court to take cognizance of his petition under Section 156 of the CrPC and refer it to SP for a thorough investigation after which sanction for prosecution can be accorded. “The orders on my petition is expected on August 1,” he said.
