From January 2013, consumers will have to pay 10 paise per unit as thermal fuel surcharge on electricity bills for three months.

All consumers except those using less than 20 units a month or having a connected load of 500 watts must pay the surcharge.
The KSEB had started collecting 20 paise per unit as fuel surcharge this week for recovering Rs 77.22 crore spent on power purchases during October-December 2011. It will be collected up to December this year.
