BHUBANESWAR: Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team (AMURT), a spiritual and social organisation, plans to launch agriculture co-operative forums in the flood-hit areas of the State. The proposed forums would serve as platform to provide minimum support to the affected farmers to resume their activity, central coordinator of AMRUT, Acharya Lokatitananda Avadhut told media persons here. The peasants would be supplied with seeds, manure and technical know how to undertake cultivation. “The farmers of the coastal districts have been hit hard by the recent floods which devoured standing paddy crop. The affected farmers badly need support to resume rabi cultivation,” Avadhut said. The organisation, during the 1999 Super Cyclone, undertook massive relief and rescue operations, sanitation and healthcare drives in the flood-affected Kendrapara, Cuttack and Puri districts.
