One of the highlights of Malli Gourmet Awards 2011 held recently at Taj Coromandel was a fashion show where models displayed various collections of C Krishniah Chetty and Sons, one of the supporters of the show. The first round saw models, dressed in Western outfits and sparkling jewellery on their necks, waists and hands, walk into the ballroom, even as the the audience applauded. The ballroom was packed to the hilt, with some failing to find a place to sit. However, it didn't act as a deterrent, as they were intent on getting a better view of the jewellery on display in the fashion show. The awards ceremony was a hit, as the winners enjoyed each other's success, in the company of their culinary staff. Friends and family members came in dozens, as this was a moment where every winner wanted to share it with their loved ones.When the second round of fashion show started, the event was already at its peak. The bridal and ethnic dresses the models wore in this round added to the glamour and lifted the mood of the evening. Exquisite jewellery shone brightly in the packed ballroom. Amid the glitz and glamour, restaurant owners and culinary personalities from the city were presented awards. Kavita Chesetty, Director, www.malli.in, the organiser of the event, promised that the next year's event would be bigger and better and more categories added to the existing 32 awards.
